I beg leave, Sir, to lay at Your feet a faithful memoir of my Royal Patroness, the illustrious queen of these great and powerful Kingdoms. If I be charged with presumption in thus approaching Him, who acts so ably in the name and on behalf of my Sovereign, I would answer, that on such an occasion I feel I have no option. When the object in pursuit is to detail the interesting and exemplary life of the best of Mothers, to whom can I dedicate it, but to one who has proved himself the best of Sons.
