This book is about the author, an ordinary man, remembering his journey through life. It catalogues his early years, his easily forgettable scholastic achievements, his career from working in the mines up to retirement from the police and several other notable achievements away from his working life. The narrative ranges from the claustrophobic, enclosed world of the mineworker, through marriage and divorce to the vast open plains of Africa. Traumatic events are re-visited with integrity and thought, mis-deeds are remembered with honesty and a little regret, amusing incidents are remembered with a smile. He examines why and how certain events, good and bad, took place and the effect they have had on his life.
