The North American Free Trade Agreement changed
Mexican and United States Relations forever,
especially in the realm of commerce.
NAFTA had enormous impact on a wide variety of laws
and regulations in Mexico, making changes and
reversals to policies that had been in place since
the Mexican Revolution. Great changes were made in
the area of Trucking and truck leasing, an important
sector of the Mexican economy, since it is by means
of trucks that the majority of Mexican goods get to
market. The theory or theories of International
Relations have been criticized for their high level
of abstraction. In the discussion, there have been
debates and polemics about seemingly irrelevant
ideas that have little application to the real
world. Constructivism, as defined by Nicholas Onuf
in his rule-orientated constructivism, provides a
framework for looking at a wide variety of
International Relations phenomena. Using this
framework, this book examines truck leasing and
transportation as rules based social activity in a
cultural, historical and international context, with
particular reference to the NAFTA and Mexican United
States relations.
