The system here presented is developed from natural and rational facts and principles, but it will be found to be in harmony with the teaching of the Scriptures, and it is essentially the system of Christian Ethics. But refer ences to the Scriptures have not been made for the sake of establishing by the authority of Revelation the leading facts and principles of obligation. The Scriptures are a great storehouse of philosophical and ethical truth which no student or thinker can afford to overlook.
