Because of his love of the Arctic's silence, beauty and dogs , Allan Berg, a, geology major in college but now an accountant and family man , has taken up dog sledding as a hobby and is asked by the defense departments to measure the thickness of the ice because of their concern with global warming and his knowledge of the tundra. When he is informed that the CIA want him to work as a spy he refuses. The Russians, because of his expertise, ask Allan to help them build a bridge connecting the the two continents.
