Ruby Gillespie, a country girl from Kent, is travelling to London for the Little Season. Her father is Sir Roderick of Thorncroft Hall but her mother is not to be mentioned. Ruby hopes to catch the eye of Crispin, Lord Sayward, a most handsome English gentleman but will his mother, the dragon, find Ruby acceptable?
