The purpose of this book is to describe the construction of an intelligent tutoring system, CIRCSIM-Tutor, that has the capability of generating a natural language dialogue with a student. Although the domain of this program is cardiovascular physiology and the student target is first year medical students, the idea is applicable to the development of intelligent tutoring systems across populations, disciplines, and domains.
