Ophthalmic Literature, Vol. 4

Excerpt from Ophthalmic Literature, Vol. 4: August, 1914Injection of ten per cent. Sodium chloride solution caused a diminution of from g. To g. In the water content of the eye. Referring to Fischer's contention that the increased tension of glaucoma is due to a special acidity, Hertel comments that this factor could not have played a part in his series of experiments, since on the one hand a rise of tension followed the injection of neutral and weakly alkaline solutions of certain strengths, and on the other hand injection of a five or ten per cent. Solution of acid sodium phosphate resulted in marked lowering of the ocular pressure. The blood pres sure was affected either not at all, or in an irregular fashion which was not elated to the variations in intraocular tension.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
