Excerpt from Papers on Art

TH E first of the following papers was originally designed to serve as an introduction to the catalogue of an Exhibition of Drawings by the Old Masters, held at the Grosvenor Gallery, and I have thought it better to leave undis turbed the occasional references which it con tains to some of the more important examples of Ancient Art collected on that occasion. The paper on Barry was first delivered as a lecture before the Society of Arts.
