Pastoral Theology, though forming a vital and organic part of the science of Christian Theology, is a theme evasive of analysis and thus somewhat difficult to treat, having regard as it does to relations which are almost wholly spiritual and personal, and whose roots are deep in the affections. As well might one try to construct a philosophy for the economy of a household and the affectionate and moral (the Germans have a better word, relations of parents and children, as to make a science of those fine relations of a Christian pastor to his ¿ock which constitute the most profound and spirit ual of human ties.
