Phonics Stories, Advanced Long and Short Vowel Patterns is appropriate for intermediate beginner readers and students of all abilities who are learning to read or receiving reading intervention for dyslexia. Nine stories systematically introduce long e (ie and y), long i (igh, y), long o (ow, ol), long u (ew, oo), short e (ea), short i (y), short o (-a, au, aw, al), and short u (-a, o). A phonics word study accompanies each story, allowing students the opportunity to study and practice spelling words with the phonics pattern(s) from each story. After each phonics story, the author, Laurie Hunter, has written a letter about the theme of the story. The letters are intended to be read by a parent or instructor.
