Plant-Growth Regulators (Classic Reprint)

Excerpt from Plant-Growth RegulatorsThe amount of growth substance used depends upon the purpose for which the Spray is intended, a safe and effective range being between 50 and 300 milligrams per liter (quart) of emulsion. 'low concentrations are often effective when used for treating blossoms or fruit, but stronger mixtures are most suitable for treating cuttings. The lanolin is melted and mixed thoroughly with the growth regulator to form a paste. The agar is dispersed in a cupful of hot water, and the soap chips are added. The mixture is heated and stirred or shaken thoroughly to form a smooth emulsion. Enough water is then added to make a final volume of 1 liter for Spraying. Cther emulsifiers may be substituted for soap, in this case the amount required to give a stable emul sion depends upon the specific emulsifier used.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
