Fading Flowers.

Where late in simple guise ye gladly grew,
Why have I torn you from the earth ye flowers?
Why robb'd you of your life, more sweet than ours,
More fairly dealt and more to Nature true?
And odours indrawn from the breath of heaven,
And freshness from the falling tears of Night,
And forms of loveliness and hues of light,
My ruthless hands to stay in vain were given!
