Excerpt from Poems of William Haines Lytle Edited
In the Appendix to his Geography and History of the Western States, published in Cincinnati in 1828, Timothy Flint gives a personal narrative from the pen of General Lytle, whom he describes as a distinguished and respectable citizen of the State of Ohio, who has been in that country from Ike beginning, and who probably has seen as much of its progress as any other man in it.
