Upon the urgent request of the pub lishers he was induced to prepare the treatment, here comprehended in chapters one to thirteen, for presentation in the columns of sheet metal, then known as the sheet metal shop, from which source the articles are now compiled and republished, together with a number of correspondents' letters and the author's answers thereto, also valuable data on installing and estimating the cost of an exhaust system by M. F. An interested and well informed reader who volunteered this additional information from his own intimate acquaintance with the subject.
