During his pastorate in Salisbury, he was married to Miss Hattie Bobbitt, daughter of the late Rev. Dr. William H. Bobbitt, of blessed memory, and he found in her a stay and support during the remaining years of his pil grimage. She still survives, with the only son, William Bobbitt Byrd, now in the service of his country, in the Aviation Corps.
