Divisions of Agriculture. - Agriculture 1s the produc tion of plants and animals that are useful to man. It has to do with land, its cultivation, and its products. There are, however, many divisions of agriculture, the most important being farming, mixed farming, dairy farming, and ranching.
We commonly think Of farming as the work of plough ing, disking, harrowing, and cultivating the land in order to make a good seed bed in which to grow crops. These crops may be Wheat, oats, barley, rye, peas, corn, clover, timothy, as well as such roots and vegetables as carrots, potatoes, turnips, and beets.
