Based on actual historical events that took place in 17th Century Europe, Recompense presents a fictional portrayal of how the devastating bubonic plague, the "Black Death, " disrupted the everyday lives of inhabitants in the small Alpine village of Oberammergau, Germany. The response of the villagers was to institute their renowned Passion Play, still faithfully re-enacted every ten years as an expression of gratitude for cessation of the deadly malady.After a tragedy forces Brandon St. Clair, a young San Francisco attorney, to re-evaluate his plans for the future, he joins a tour group traveling to Oberammergau to attend a present-day performance of the Passion Play. Soon, he begins experiencing mystifying "visions" of the old medieval village. Who is the young boy caught up in the cataclysmic events of the time?
