WinthropN presenting this Register of the School Boys who have been pupils at the High and Winthrop Schools, the Commit tee of Publication, after long and deep research, is able to give such a partial account of each boy as can be gleaned from the extant School Records. The Vital Records iof the City of Charlestown and, since 1873, of the City of Boston, in the office of the City Registrar, those in the office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth, the records of the Quinquennial Office of Harvard University, and newspaper files from 1848 to the present time, have been diligently searched for further data, and much information has been gathered by correspondence and personal interviews. But the time necessary to collect the data for anything approaching a full record was not at the command of the Committee, since many of the Boys have removed to distant parts of the United States and to foreign countries, and all trace of them has been lost. The Committee has made no attempt to follow the careers of the Boys since they left school, save in noting, so far as possible, the Degrees conferred upon such as have received Academic honors.The Committee will welcome all additions and corrections to this List, to the end that at some future time it may be possible to issue a more complete edition of the Register of all the Old Charlestown School Boys.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
