The gentleman who was placed at the side of the table next to the door, was apparently the master of the house, for be it was who gave orders to three or four servants who moved quietly about the room and to an elder man who kept his place by a large bu¿'et loaded with jars of silver, and gilt drinking cups, and basins richly chased. The other three gentlemen who were apparently his guests only addressed themselves to the pages, who poured out the wine.
