Savana Tree Use and Conservation in Southern Mozambique

The book reports components answered questions related to the contribution of charcoal production to the local economy, the way populations of selected species changed by the activity and the way these species recover. Amongst other, Acacia nigrescens, A. nilotica, Ziziphus mucronata are the most utilised species for charcoal production, due to hard wood quality, which result in high revenue in southerer Mozambique, Southern Mozambique. The charcoal production is being done by the outsider, gaining high revenue in the study area. Local community households was found not sharing the benefiting of production. Therefore they were willing to participate in the process of controlling the activity because findings showed thatdoes not contribute as a strategic livelihood alternative for local community development toward poverty alleviation in the area. population structure by stem circumference classes for all three study species were broadly similar. There was an inverse relationship between species abundance and mean harvesting radius. There was an inverse relationship between species abundance and mean harvesting radius. Thus, this study findings indicate an impact in the study.
