Sef Meyer had made quite a few enemies, in his 56 years, and during the summer of 2008 they were lining up to damage his family and his property. But he was too pre-occupied to see the warning signs, his father, Hans, had recently died and after burying his ashes on the moors, there was a gathering at Sef's Moor Cross Stables for the reading of the will and the screening of a video that Hans made shortly before his death. The revelations shocked everybody in the room, especially Sef. That same evening Sef was stabbed whilst checking on his stallion, Knave of Spades, and came round in hospital to find that he had amnesia and had lost six precious hours. During that time, he had apparently rowed with his long-term girlfriend, Becky Hardy, who then moved out and into the home of Sef's protege and manager, David MacFay. Who stabbed him? Who was trying to ruin his business and injure his family, friends and his beloved horses? How would he get Becky back? They were all the questions Sef tried to address as he recovered from injury and amnesia, against the backdrop of the town's annual Carnival week and other events during a short and dramatic 24 day period.
