This novel is full of historical facts gleaned from the logbook and diary of John Kenneth Watson, a pilot in the Royal Flying Corp during WWI. A fictional story of war, love, and intrigue is intertwined with adventure and compelling events, including being shot down and captured by the Red Baron, only to escape in a very unique way. His father, John, was a very successful and wealthy trainer of thoroughbred racehorses and expected his son, Ken, to carry on the family business. However, he had an inward dislike for the racing business and a strong passion for flying. Ken fell in love with Ivy Rose, considered a lowly commoner to Ken's upper crust family. A wartime romance followed and played a key role in Ken's life that adds charm to this novel. His military status and wealthy upbringing brought him in contact with many famous and royal people of the day, including Prime Minister Lloyd George, Field Marshal General Haig and Winston Churchill.
