The reader will remark the close resemblance between the structure of this poem [the Assembly of Foules - or Birds and that of the Court of Love, already pomted out in the introduction to the latter poem. In those and in many detached passages of Chaucer's other poems, may be detected A ten benoy TO pantheism, or the worshipping a prmciple supposed to pervade the Universe, rather than a personal Deity.

Some of the poets see this principle as Lady Nature, their mistress.
