John's Gospel is unique in designating the Holy Spirit as "Comforter" or "Helper" (14:16). As part of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit extends the ministry of Jesus to the end of this age. The Spirit leads believers to understand the meanings, implications, and imperatives of the gospel, and enables them to do "greater works" than those done by Jesus (14:12).
