Stoneboats and Piglets" provides a real-life glimpse into rural America during the 1920's and '30's through the eyes of a "young feller" named Larry. Born on his parents' North Dakota homestead in 1922, the nearest neighbors lived a mile or so away. Tappen, the nearest town, was a journey of several miles by horse-drawn wagon in summer, and horse-drawn sleigh in winter. The Drews and other families of the farming community supported themselves off the land. They were plenty busy and well-challenged! Growing up in this atmosphere of resourcefulness and hard-work, young Larry was both a keen observer and an enthusiastic participant.
