I am in receipt of Your Honours' letter of the 3rd December last, and since there has been no opportunity of writing you prior to the departure of the "Essequibo Welvaeren, " I have now the honour to discharge that duty, and will speak of the matter of Cuyuni.

I trust and doubt not that Their High Mightinesses will obtain proper satisfaction for an act that is so entirely contrary to the law of nations, and I can very well understand that the death of the King of Spain must delay the settlement of the matter.
