Upon concluding this following Practical Dissertation I resolved on its Dedication to Tome Expert Practical Surgeon, among whom the long Experience I have had, Sir, of your Abilities in that Art. as well as Friendship, directed me readily to prefix your Name, and at the same time to solicit your Countenance thereof, which, whether or no it has the better Claim to upon that Score, may very likely find the kindlier Entertainment, when the Reader is apprised so competent, and so impartial a judge as your Self, having had a Perusal of it before its Publication, gave Judgment in its Favour, and declared it a useful Treatise.
