Excerpt from Talks for the Times

This book is composed of a number of my Sunday evening sermons, which I have preached in Bond Street Congregational Church.

This church is large, beautiful and commodious. I have been the pastor for about six years, and at each of these services the church has been filled with upwards of three thousand people, year in and year out, wet or shine. Besides, the sermons have been printed weekly in the Parkdale News. The public ask for the sermons in book form, this volume.
