The student who desires to enter somewhat more fully into the study of our sea-shore fauna than is possible from the following pages will do well to consult Dr. Leidy's paper, "Contributions towards a Knowledge of the Marine Invertebrate Fauna of the Coasts of Rhode Island and New Jersey" (published in the Journal of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, vol. iii.), and Prof. Verrill's report on the "Invertebrate Animals of Vineyard Sound, " prepared for the United States Commission of Fish and Fisheries (1873).
