Percy Cross Standing (1870-1931) was a British author and journalist. This book, published in the Daily Telegraph War Books 'At the Front' series at the end of 1914, describes events on the Eastern Front, or Eastern Theatre, during the early months of World War I after Russia's successful invasion of Galicia, defeating the Austro-Hungarian forces there. It also covers the defence of the Vistula, the siege of Przemysl, and the German retreat and Russian pursuit to the frontier, ending in the second week of November 1914 with Germany's second invasion of Poland.
