As a boy Lewis was thoughtful, affectionate and studious. From childhood he cherished reverence and love for his parents, which manifested itself in uniform and unquestioning obedience, and in anxiety to please them and 'gnin their ap provaj. As the elder' brother in the family, he was devoted and faithful, reproving earnestly what he deemed Errors and faultsgyet in such a spirit of tenderness and affection as evéi' to knit more closely the hands of love that united them.
