The time had now come when he must buy his ticket and voyage away into the unknown. Though the adventure of such a step would have kindled in him a feeling of excitement, would perhaps have made him dream of strange happenings, and would have produced in him when he woke in the morning that intangible and indefinite sense of something impending which comes to us all at times in the first moments of consciousness after sleep, it would not have kept him awake for a minute.
