The House on Black Bay is about the cooperation between security agencies across the Atlantic in the ever-increasing threat from international terrorism, and of a case of murder which catapulted a FBI agent into a web of terrorism and intrigue, at one stage nearly costing him his life. It is to convey to the man in the street that these agents are ordinary people just like them, but we ask them to do an extraordinary and difficult job. The author had served for thirty-three years in the RUC and had during his service been at the sharp end of dealing with terrorism. He has shown through his build up of the characters in this book that the men and women who serve are ordinary people like ourselves and not as so often portrayed on screen as James Bond figures.
