Using an ethnographic study of the Jad Bhotiya community of Uttarkashi, this book discusses universal concepts of nationalism, identity, and democracy, to name a few. It also talks about their constructions of gender, the political construction of self with respect to international and border relationships, and how factors such as trade, economy, and the policies of a democratic country have affected the community.
