Excerpt from The Inspiration of the Bible: A Paper Read Before the Rural Deaneries of Leeds and Grenville, Ontario, May 4th, 1909
It is with considerable hesitation that this paper is under taken. I have felt that, for my own part, I must know the position of affairs by reading the works of those religious leaders, who have given years to the study of the subject, and who therefore have most right to speak upon it. If by pointing out where they agree, and by stating their position of disagree ment, we can arrive at some idea of the present phase of reli gions thought, we shall at least be in a fair way to advance with them another step towards a truer appreciation of God's work ings and God's revelation'of Himself.
