This book is based on an archaeological research project completed in Bahrain aimed at investigating the period between the sixth and thirteenth centuries AD. Technologies such as pearl diving and pottery manufacture, as well as animal keeping and butchery, are all considered. Additionally, this volume examines the role of trade and commerce in creating the complex history manifest in the Persian Gulf region, as well as the role of religious and other identities in that culture.
