The Life and Speeches of Daniel Henry Deniehy (Classic Reprint)

Excerpt from The Life and Speeches of Daniel Henry Deniehy

"The speeches, essays, and various contributions to the Press, which will be found in the following pages, together with the brief Memoir annexed thereto, have been collected and written, and are now given to the public as an humble tribute to the memory of, if not the greatest, one of the greatest of Australia's sons, with the hope that some larger and more tangible, if tardy, recognition of Daniel Henry Deniehy's services to his country may be forthcoming.

The author has preferred to leave the papers in the order in which they were collected, rather than to classify them according as they dealt with political or literary matters.

For the generous assistance rendered in supplying such information as was in their possession, thanks are due to many friends and contemporaries of Deniehy, more especially to the Hon. W. B. Dailey, Q.C., Mr. Edward Greville, Mr. J. G. O'Connor, the Hon. Geoffrey Eager, Mr. Thomas Garrett, M.P., and Mr. Alfred Beavan.
