I had the privilege of long acquaintance with Mr. Ruskin, and the advantage of having worked under him, in differ ent capacities, at different times, during some twenty years, on most of the subjects which have occupied his attention since his call to Oxford. I had already collected material enough for a volume, in order to write a biographical outline published in 1889 under the editorship of Mr. John Waugh, of Bradford.
