When the children investigate further, they learn that the scheming teachers are witches, with the power to conjure themselves into beasts. They plan to open the magic locket to release the 'Terrors, ' and to destroy the school.
When Amy's sister Ellen suddenly disappears, the four friends suspect Mrs Graham, and embark on a perilous rescue mission. They navigate secret chambers and passageways beneath the school, solving riddles and spells on their way, and slaying the ferocious 'Hydra.'
