Collected here for the first time is every edition of the famous monthly "London Magazine, " Dominated mainly by pseudonymous contributors, "The London Magazine" (1820-1824) was richer in authors and literary content than any other periodical. The prose was considered the most humorous, urbane, and sophisticated to be found anywhere. So highly was the magazine regarded that a series of arguments between its first editor, John Scott, and rival publication "Blackwood's Magazine" ended in an 1821 duel in which Scott was killed. In a time when literature depended on the reaction of the leading journals, "The London Magazine" stood out as a primary platform for the most famous of the Romantics.
