It is opposed to a system which enables a religious body, as such, to derive undue financial advantage from the public interest in its less important "social" work, and to exist as a religious body mainly by virtue of a misconception in the public mind encouraged by the disproportionate combination of its religious and "social" functions in its appeals.It is not maintained that the Salvation Army doe$ not, in the stereotyped phrase, "do good work".
