Akiba returns to Joppa.

Attended by a few of his attached students, without the slightest display or announcement, he enters the place at the time of sunset, and proceeds straight to the synagogue, to speak to the people who, night by night, have met together awaiting his return.

His communion with them is very short, although they rejoice truly at his presence, for without Akiba they are as sheep having no shepherd.
