The Tarnished Texan

Wingfield, Don

The Tarnished Texan

Brady Wells lived in a time when the white man battled with his own kind during the Civil War. Then he went on to watch the saber of the soldier cut and hack its way through bands of Indians that tied white scalps on the shaft of their lance as a sign of a proud warrior. Brady Wells was born of a white woman captured by the Apache to serve as their slave. She gave birth to Brady Wells during a Cavalry raid on an Apache village. Soon the mother took her own life and his father died on the battlefield. Their death left Brady Wells to grow up in the mist of the military fort. This book brings out the deeds of valor for both the soldier and Indian and most of all the men who fought for what they believed was their destiny. Both sides had their victories and their defeats even though they were called victories for the soldiers and massacres for the Indians. Brady Wells was torn between his red and white blood until the vision of the higher beings from both sides finally set him free to live among all the tribes that made up the newly formed western territories. Brady Wells was the exception, not the normal person that would except what ever would be, would be. He and his kind brought strength to the American heritage and spread unity among those that make their own destiny.
