IN the arrangement Of material in the present edition of this work, Part I has included, for the most part, the analysis of such structures as are statically determinate, or which can be closely analyzed by the application of the usual methods of statics. In the last chapter of Part I there was also given a brief treatment of the calculation of de¿ections of ordinary trusses, and a general explanation of the method of determining stresses in redundant members based upon de¿ection formulas.
