Look out through a window ten feet away at a man in the street beyond, how much space on the window-glass is actually occupied by his distant figure? The facts will surprise you. A visit ing card held in your own hand at arm's length would more than cover him from sight. That same small card might cover a tall building, or even hide a dis tant mountain, for a small thing near the eyes fills the same space as a much larger thing farther away.
