The limited size of the work precludes, of course, an exhaustive consideration of the subject, which, however, is the less to be regretted since the publication of Rev. Prof. Bartlett's learned and able book, * con taining probably the most thorough discussion of it which has appeared. My only hope is that this tract may go where that larger and more expensive work will not be able to reach, and save some from the baleful in¿uence of a faith as humiliating as it is untrue. I. P.
