This sermon is printed precisely as it was preached. It may thus, it is hoped, be no unpleasing memento to my late fellow candidates for the sacred office of the ministry, and to myself, of a most eventful day in our lives. Portions of the original manuscript which, on account of its too great length, were not delivered from the pulpit, have been either altogether omitted or embodied in notes. Whoever has closely observed what has of late been passing around us, will scarcely be disposed to undervalue the present importance of several subjects herein glanced at.
