Excerpt from Topographic Problems in the Cumberland Gap Area

Four topographic features will be explained in this article. (1) Cumberland Gap will be explained as to origin. (2) The valley of Yellow Creek in which middlesboro, Kentucky, is located is singular in that the upper part of the valley is a very wide basin while the lower portion is a canyon. I'he canyon in its narrowest portion is very meandering. The basin, canyon, and meanders will be explained.
