Anne Hamilton grew up, married and had children in the strict confines of a fundamentalist Christian organisation. The organisation raised her to believe that the only path to salvation is to keep entirely separate from the rest of the world, so as to be ready for the rapture. If you choose to leave, you will be shunned by everyone you have ever know, including your parents and your children. Anne has left. She did so at the age of 44, after a devastatingly abusive marriage and multiple breakdowns. She left behind 5 children, with whom she has not been in contact since. This is the story of her life: how she survived it then, and how she survives it now.
